At Oak Grove we are so happy to provide many programs and educational opportunities for the children.
Below are some of the programs we offer as well as information on how you can get involved.
Did you know that the different events hosted by the PTA each year raise funds for programs like:

  • Author Visits
  • Writer in Residence
  • Author in Residence
  • Science in the Classroom
  • Character Education and Literacy Programs
  • Technology (providing programs on the computers in all of the classrooms)

The Friends of the Otter Fund provides for children who otherwise participate in different opportunities (field trips, class shirts, or snacks during the day).  This is funded by the generosity of parents.

In the last few years we have been able to raise enough money to build a playground and we are purchasing an outdoor classroom for the children.  We raise funds by having fund raisers and participating in family nights like Ollie Fest, Book Fair, Carolina Hurricanes and meals at Chick-Fil-A  and McDonalds.

Other programs (for example: fun run, Sally Foster wrapping paper, and Hurricanes Tickets) provide some income, but income from these go to fund programs like the ones above.

Friends of the Otter Fund

The Friends of the Otter Fund allows the PTA to provide monetary support for those students at Oak Grove who may be less fortunate than their peers.  The Friends of the Otter Fund sponsors these students in a variety of activities including but not limited to field trips, classroom pizza and ice cream parties, and even provides snacks for children in the classroom.

It also provides an opportunity for the child to have access to Oak Grove Spirit wear and receive a book at the annual Book Fair.  Without this fund, these opportunities and items may not be a possibility for these students.

The Friends of the Otter Fund began in the 2005 - 2006 school year.  In the past four years, money from many generous donations has allowed the Friends of the Otter Fund to function as intended.  Every dollar donated is greatly appreciated.

Together we can make sure that all Otters enjoy every aspect of the Oak Grove experience.

If you would like to donate to this fund, please contact Mandy Patterson (mandyp@pattersonplace.org ) for more information.
